Dig Deep

Just knowing basic information about your dream company is not sufficient, you have to dig a litter deeper. Try to find as much information as possible about your dream company. Researching companies in advance will help to know more about company culture, organization structure, key personnel in that company. Also, take time to be sure this is a company that would be ideal for you. With more understanding about the company you can comfortably give answers to a few questions like: “What interests you in our company?”, “What do you know about our company?”, “Why did you apply?”.

Connect with Companies

You can connect with that company on social media and can register on its career page. When you follow the company, you are the first one to know about company updates including new job openings. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube — there are so many social media channels. Your dream company may not have an account on all these social media but follow wherever possible. Following on social media is one of the quickest ways to know about job openings in your dream companies.

Clean up Your Social Media

If you’re going to be interacting with an employer in a professional manner, pay attention to your social media account. Make sure that everything the employer can see is work-appropriate. If something is questionable, it’s likely you should delete (or change your privacy settings if you must keep it). Best yet, you might choose to create a whole new social account to interact with employers. Just keep in mind that anyone can look up your public information.

Use LinkedIn Effectively

We have no better tool available to help us to find about company updates and job openings. Even you can find and connect with people working for your dream company. So, take advantage of it! If you don’t have a 1st-degree connection, that’s OK: Your 2nd-degree connections can be equally valuable. When you discover that you’ve got a 2nd-degree connection to someone working at your dream company, simply contact you shared connection, ask him how well he knows this person, and see if he’d be willing to introduce you.

Set up Google Alerts

Setting up Google alerts is one of the easiest ways to know about job openings in your dream companies. Google alerts are free emails Google automatically sends you whenever the search engine finds information relevant to topics you’ve told it to look for — including articles, news stories, press releases, and the like. You can use Google Alerts to monitor news about any company, non-profit, product, person, or industry-relevant to your job search.

Enthusiasm alone will only get you so far. To really get noticed by your dream company, you’re going to need to put in the work. It may even open up opportunities you weren’t aware of, so remember to keep an open mind in your search.
